Day Four ... time to head south to Hobart
And so to our final day travelling and exploring Tassie (well for this trip). We left lovely Launceston and began heading south towards Hobart. The drive from end to end was 200 km long and google maps said it would take 2 and a half hours ... however we never just go from A to B!
There are so many beautiful towns along the highway filled with so much history. We used Ad Labs to stop along the way, to be taken to some historic buildings, bridges, a convict trail and even some quirky topiaries.
We stopped at Evandale, Campbell Town, Ross, Oatlands, Kempton and Pontville. At Evandale we stopped at the local market which was very odd with lots of old junk but the most fabulous Sudanese donuts! We learned about Harold Gatty who served in WWI and went on to establish Fiji Airways, about the artist John Glover who has art hanging in The Louvre, a water tower that (whilst it is no longer functioning) still holds water to maintain the structure, and played with a sundial that was spot on accurate for date and time. We saw amazing wood carvings, a windmill, buildings more than 200 years old, and lots more ‘quaint’ stuff - including the site of the World Pennyfarthing Races.
Lunch was a quick grab of food to get us through and we arrived into Hobart just after 2.30, checked in to our hotel so that Ian could spend some time working and prepping for tomorrow. We have had a wonderful few days and look forward to coming back to explore more in the future.
As we have travelled around we have completed 22 Ad Labs ... they are so much fun. They take you to so many places you would maybe never go to.
Until next time ...
